poll-combined

    • MOC enrollment varies by where hospitalists work. Enrollment is lowest among hospitalists working for national hospitalist management groups (44%) and highest among hospitalists working for hospitals/hospital corporations (67%).
    • Numbers also vary by specialty. A much larger number of pediatric hospitalists (81%) is enrolled in maintenance of certification than colleagues who treat only adults, and only 3% say they have no plans to enroll in MOC.
    • More women hospitalists (76%) are opting for internal medicine/family medicine MOC, with only 20% now taking or planning to take the focused practice in hospital medicine track. Among men, 54% are now enrolled (or plan to enroll) in internal medicine/family medicine MOC, while 38% are opting for focused practice.

    • “Doctors are busy. Help them do their job. Create opportunities for CME that cost less and require less time and stick with that for certification.”
