If you spend a little time with the data, one trend becomes very clear: The more patient encounters hospitalists see per shift, the more issues they say are somewhat or very challenging. The busiest of hospitalists have above-average stress levels when it comes to group stability, staffing and retention, the expanding role of nonphysician clinicians, and unattached/unaware leadership.

I don’t think most docs understand what they are certifying with their signature on admission and billing orders. Many “social admits,” delayed discharges or standing order medical consults are fraudulent to bill.
