CHA Cambridge Hospital and CHA Everett Hospital serve as a safety net for complex and diverse patients. We address community health needs in new and innovative ways and train the next generation of health professionals.
Employment model: All MDs and PAs working at least 0.5 FTE are employed by CHA’s Physician Organization.
Services: Hospitalists provide inpatient and ED consults and rapid response team coverage. Academic duties include inpatient precepting for medical students and residents.
Schedule and coverage: Day and night shifts are typically 12 hours. Weekends and holidays are distributed evenly throughout the department. A full-time FTE hospitalist MD can expect to work around 1,810 hours a year, with additional shifts compensated accordingly.
Compensation: The competitive, guaranteed base salary varies according to years of experience post-training, distribution of day/night shifts, etc. Quality and productivity bonuses for those who qualify.
Practice highlights: CHA is home to 16 residency and training programs and is affiliated with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and MassGeneral for Children. It is a teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School and the Tufts University School of Medicine.
