The Palmetto Health USC Medical Group is the largest multispecialty, clinically integrated medical group providing the broadest range of health care services in the Midlands region of beautiful South Carolina. Hospitalists in Columbia provide hospitalist services at Palmetto Health Richland, Palmetto Health Baptist, and Palmetto Health Baptist Parkridge. Hospitalists in Sumter provide hospitalist services at Palmetto Health Tuomey.
Services: Hospitalists are responsible for ED unassigned coverage, some primary care coverage, subspecialist consultation, ICU coverage, preoperative evaluations, post-op medical management and observation coverage. Procedures are not required.
Schedule and coverage: Palmetto offers ﬂexible scheduling. Hospitalists work 1,976 hours annually or 165 shifts. They perform geographic rounding with NP support.
Compensation: Competitive salary commensurate with experience, paid medical malpractice, health beneﬁts and a retirement plan. In addition, hospitalists receive a CME stipend, a sign-on bonus and relocation expenses. MGMA benchmarks are used to determine compensation, and hospitalists are eligible after one year for a qualitative bonus.
Local highlights: Columbia is the state capital and a booming metropolitan city; 45 minutes away is Sumter, a family-friendly community offering small-city charm. Columbia and Sumter are both within short drives of both the Appalachian Mountains and the Atlantic Ocean.
