Geisinger Health System serves more than 3 million people in central, south-central and northeast Pennsylvania and also in southern New Jersey with the addition of AtlantiCare, a National Malcolm Baldrige Award recipient. Geisinger is nationally recognized for innovative practices and quality care. A mature EHR connects a network of 12 hospital campuses, 43 community practice sites, and nearly 1,600 Geisinger primary and specialty care physicians.

Services: Hospitalists provide a wide array of comprehensive medical care, including caring for patients from established primary care offices to ED unassigned patients. They provide medical consultant and comanagement services for coexisting subspecialist care, and teaching services with medical residents and students.

Schedule and coverage: Hospitalists work seven-on/seven-off , 26 weeks per year with some flexible scheduling. Nocturnist and traveling hospitalists are incorporated within the staffing model.

Compensation: The compensation and benefit plan is highly competitive with national market-based benchmarks. Compensation is not based upon productivity or incentive metrics, but rather directed toward recruitment and retention.

Local highlights: Geisinger fosters an atmosphere of clinical excellence in an area offering a high quality of life complete with good schools, safe neighborhoods, affordable housing, and a wealth of cultural and recreational activities. The area provides opportunities for fishing, skiing, canoeing, hiking and mountain biking, and urban life is easily accessible.
