Alternative scheduling to seven-on/seven-off

September 2014

In these four videos, Main Line Health’s Drs. Reem Anne Habboushe, campus chief of hospital medicine, Paoli, and Jonathan Stallkamp, medical director of hospitalist services, MLH, explain the appeal behind offering more than just seven-on/seven-off block scheduling for their hospitalists. Alternative scheduling — a variable, flexible schedule that allows hospitalists to work shorter days and fewer weekends — has increased provider satisfaction by easing burnout and promoting a healthy work-life balance.

Main Line Health’s four-campus system has made flexible scheduling work for both hospital medicine physicians and the C-suite, and the addition of alternative scheduling has increased both the appeal of working for Main Line Health and the system’s talent pool.
